When God's walked among us

Arriving by train from Rome, our hearts began to sing.

Ancient cobbles passed beneath our feet as Florence came to life, the visual feast was at times too much and when you thought you couldn't stand it any more, a sea of terracotta roof tops swept out to the horizon leading your eyes further than they had ever travelled.

In the Uffizi gallery led us along darkened corridors towards the prize we had travelled so far to see, with a lump in my throat and tears swelling, there before me stood my first Caravaggio........no words......none, only silence........ falling into his work, falling in love with a man that has long since passed from this world I stood transfixed to the image before me.

Out in the street my emotion was obvious for all to see, so we sat for a while, quiet contemplation filling our heads.

From the pages of travel books this city came to life, something that must be experienced, no words can ever prepare you.
