Is it the occupation you attend to on a daily basis, the clothes that you carefully choose each morning or the words that are spoken to those around you ?
No matter what you do, how you act, the clothes you wear.....each and every one of us hide behind something. For each person you meet there is a different character waiting in the wings, waiting to deliver a new, unrehearsed script.
Rarely do you meet an individual that will be open, honest and at ease with those around them. From an early age we are taught the skill of self preservation, don't give too much away, tell this person one thing or that person something else.....and on it goes well into old age.
Having lived in various countries, experiencing a wide range of cultures, ethnicities and age groups I now find myself in the enviable position of not caring too much.
Keeping up appearances was a falsehood passed on by parents that had this behavior drummed into them at an early age, when all is said and done....do people really care that much ?
If a magnifying glass was held up to my life, interest would soon wane, my general habits are honestly quite dull and that is exactly how I prefer to live.
If there were advice to offer....it would be this, give them a little something, show up, join in and be ready to depart the room as quickly as you had arrived.......never put all your eggs in one basket,a little mystery goes a long way.
Be what you expect of yourself....not what others expect of you, this will be your lasting legacy
