Tiny cracks appear, loose threads are picked at and before very long the unravelling begins, demons creep from the most unlikely of places.
From the earliest memories we are taught to fear, from the darkness to the monsters under our beds, rarely are we taught how to fight back, to ignore, to shine light into it's eyes, sending it scurrying back into the cracks in the wall from where it came.
Then we find ourselves grown, dealing with other grown-ups who are equally afraid, their monsters have come out from under the bed and sit beside them on the bus or in the back seat of the car whispering, taunting, teasing, waiting for an opportunity to be fed, to be heard.
Over time a shadow that appears monstrous can, with a little light turn out to be a mouse cowering in the dark, equally afraid........you see we all have our fears, the ghosts that drift in during times of vulnerability and weakness.
Having faith to step into the darkness can take tremendous courage, pushing past that knot in your stomach, confronting an old enemy, even saying No to a Friend.
By placing one foot in front of the other your fear will shrink and your journey can begin.........then one day you can sit with your face to the sun and smile to yourself, because you have nothing to fear.
