"manners maketh the man".....or so it was said !
With the arrival of 2018, so too does a new approach in my thinking...my way of presenting to the world, charting a new course if you will.
For as long as I can remember there has only been old fashioned terms to guide us as men, rules have been fashioned as and when we saw fit....in many cases to our detriment, men can often be one of the stupidest animals on the planet !
Interestingly by returning to the old fashioned, the vintage, the tried and true ways of old, men have an opportunity to be real men, respect must always start with self, this includes personal grooming, manners and ones general approach to the world and those that inhabit it !
I firmly believe that by applying the brakes somewhat, we can alter our course, our self-destruct direction we sometimes seem to be heading for.
For men, there are few rules and this has cost us dearly...we find ourselves in a society of unruly, misguided individuals that lack direction and focus...respect is severely lacking in many respects too...its time for a shift in our thinking !
Lets start with women...they struggle constantly to gain ground as we men fear losing our assumed position in this world.....that assumption would suggest we have already lost that battle, by remembering who brought us into this world is a good place to start....they, quite honestly don't require our permission, our input, our very being...they can quite happily exist without us and have done for many centuries....they understand choice and sacrifice more than any man ever will !
At this point, feel free to throw around a few labels...feminist...wowser and quite possibly some other derogatory terms that do not warrant existence on this page, if this is your thought process....then you will share a grave with the dinosaurs....you should fear the future, its time for us little boy's to grow up.
Only by standing should to shoulder with our fellow human beings will we ever achieve our lofty goals in life...together we can create more than we destroy !
So, step one is to look in the mirror...question the aspects of your life that are stale or stagnant...remove them, banish them and make way for a fresh approach...trust me, the river will begin to flow, a new swift currant will carry you forward.
Consider your interactions with the world...do you respect others...more importantly do you respect yourself ?
Dress to impress...not others, but yourself, if you admire the reflection of yourself then you can do no more....at this point you must be brutal, be honest and if change is required...then change you must !
If you are alone in this world...begin the self-respect process and you will find solitude will vanish from your life, be strong in your approach to change, do it for the right reasons...to make short-term gains is not reason enough, you will end up on your backside....again, scratching your head.
So with a few simple tips...rules if you like, go out there and be the man you hope to be, find love, laugh as much as possible and treat others as you wish to to be treated and from there you will achieve a happy New Year !
