Summer cometh.....

What curious creatures we are...no sooner has the rain gone away than we are wishing it back to keep the beauty abundant !

Its mid afternoon and the heat is climbing, I wander through our secluded patch of paradise observing the struggle that surrounds me.

The hard and fast rule of survive or be damned seems to have been noted...as Spring passes into Summer, the strong stand tall.

The early rain appears to worked its magic...colours are deeper, more vibrant almost too loud for such a small space, I say almost !

The netting has come into force as the daily battle commences, the Blackbird and the Thrush are worthy opponents it must be noted with one eye on the kitchen window from where we survey our domain and the other on the prize within the folds of deep green leaves.

Storm clouds threaten but give no respite to the sudden dry...we have a long road ahead if this beauty is to continue.

Hard work appears to be paying dividends...roses bow as I pass and yet it is I that feel honoured by their arrival, it never fails to surprise and astound when I glance into their deep folds of petal...into the heart of their being.

The bee's take full advantage of their generosity...ignoring my adoration's, going about their business as though I were invisible !

My eyes are drawn to the readying ripeness and yet I must show some restraint, a day or two more if my opponents don't get there before me.

It is calm now, an occasional breeze shifts the branches...but there is little or no disturbance here...it is this moment that stir's a sigh within me, a moment of wonderment and delight at being witness to pure magic.

A curious on-looker shows mild amusement at my bewildering behaviour.....crouching, bending and shifting on one leg to obtain the best possible view of all that I see around me...the curiosity doesn't last, there are birds to chase and shadowy corners to inspect...humans are such absurd creatures !

I glance skyward and hope for rain, our Summer's are all to brief and the outdoor decor won't last.

The bee's rush past oblivious to my presence once again...there is much work to be done it seems !

I spy another glorious spectator and stare for what seems an eternity...we often take such wonders for granted, I wish we didn't...life moves too fast...we miss so much.

I give thanks for gift of sight, my senses celebrate the fragrance of this beauty as the warm afternoon encourages such abundance.

I pray to some unseen universe that this child-like curiosity never leaves me...my sense of wonderment will serve as food for others to seek out their own joy's.

In a world that can be a mixture of turmoil and struggle I feel at peace here in this perfect patch of paradise.....and so Summer cometh and beyond that we can only imagine !
