How many times do we all walk these streets and fail to look up from our busy lives ?
It seems when planning for the future...the old didn't necessarily make way for the new, surprisingly they appear to coexist, a joining of forces if you like to bring us something of our past while housing the future !
It is with a fresh perspective I began to look around, to observe places I had up until recently ignored as this was where I lived...why should I take notice ?
I reminded myself that we are nothing without the past....we have no point of reference to call upon.
Mention a library to some people and their eyes roll, until a few years ago I too thought they were places for the old to gather....quiet, dusty places and quite dry.....yes I along with countless others found myself in the naughty corner....I admit it, I was wrong !
This building is nothing like those book warehouses of old with stern mature ladies hushing people if they dared whisper a word.
Honestly, I make a point of going upstairs on a regular basis to look out over the square...sometimes I sit for a while and bathe in the beautiful light that pours through from the green space below.....if you don't believe me...take the time to look for yourself !
My motivation to showcase our patch of paradise is gaining momentum....maybe its maturity, but I feel we must celebrate all that we have around us....yes there are far off places that will leave you breathless, but don't be in too much of a rush to ignore our home environment.
If we do not notice, protect and celebrate the jewels we have then we don't deserve them.
Its been four years since we arrived in this city, having travelled far and wide I am proud to call Palmy my home.....in fact over the coming weeks, months and hopefully years I will go out of my way to find the good in every nook and cranny.
So join me on this journey, take a closer look at the place we call home....share your stories with me, because only by working together will we create a future for those yet to come !
