There is many a tale of how our lives unravel by living a life of internet consumption.
We have failed in our ability to see it as a tool, something that will assist us, and yet it hinders our success in society...we ignore the young so much that they feel the need to escape to a world...or worlds where anything and everything is possible !
On-line there are people ready to deposit obscene amounts of money into your bank account, you can be famous in the click of a button and speak with fifty people at once....how wonderful it all seems.
Fame has always come at a price, there will always be those waiting to exploit and manipulate...there always have been, but now we live in different times. We can access worlds in the blink of an eye, we can shut ourselves away from the people we know and meet kind and generous strangers...we seem to have let our guard down at some point and yes, its a problem !
Stranger danger is something taught in schools, but little is mentioned to the rest of us on how to be socially responsible, to safeguard ourselves in the online world.
As a group, our group, we consider ourselves more social than media hungry....attention is a wonderful thing, but ego must be measured at all times, we must constantly remind ourselves that all is not as it seems...we must share the tiniest scrap of mundane information as this is where certain people hide, we play dress-up, we act out our fantasy of living a warped version of a Victorian lifestyle and generally poke fun at each other always aware of the lines that cannot be crossed....should not be crossed !
There is much to be said for living rural, where phones and computers can't always reach us.....wide open spaces where a Lady can ride her tractor naked !
Socially acceptable is part of what we do, we include everyone, and advise as best we can so that others don't fall into traps, our phones and gadgets are tools to assist us in our journey...nothing more, they hold no great promise of riches, of fame and glory...they are tools and will be continued to be utilised as such, that in itself will assist us in dealing with a socially acceptable media !
