Yet again we found ourselves curled up in front of the TV re-watching one of our favorite movies..."Julie & Julia"
I have lost count how many times I have watched the story unfold of two women with a common interest, never once was it lost on me the idea that each of us need a purpose...something to do with our lives.
For those of you that have never experienced this parody, it is a fascinating observation of humanity, how we interact with each other, how we respond to challenging circumstances and the outcomes of our journey.
I say parody as this was produced as a result of the opinion and assumptions of a modern day woman...so very far removed from the more elegant and simple time of 1950's Europe.
There are varying opinions on the characters as each have their part to play, but a word of caution must be noted here...if we are to indulge in our fantasies and open up the past, do so with respect, consider the time that once was and the mindset of those involved, contemplate the intimacies and nuances that added to the recipe you are attempting...fail at this and you fail at serving up something that any of us will stomach for long !
Unfortunately for me, I was born far too late and missed the joy that was Julia Child and no one has the ability or right to judge this lady as they see fit...all we will ever have are the notes, letters and words of others...how they are interpreted comes with great responsibility !
So yet again...I ask what do you know ?
Were you in the room when a thing was said, did you walk the same streets as this person you consider a Friend or know so well...the answer will rarely be yes !
We make up so much of our lives as we go along, we piece together what we can to get us further ahead in life...this is humanity.
I personally don't think Julia ever set out to conquer the world, I firmly believe it was a case of circumstance...some guesswork and a joy of life, not forgetting the great love she had in her husband Paul. I speak of them as though I knew them well...I honestly wish I had !
So in life I try to piece together the clues that come to me based on what I know, the media will have us see it another way...stories are told and wonders are created, but at what cost...consider this when you embark upon your next great adventure...what do you know.
